Teachers Centre - The Natracare Schools Programme

The Natracare Schools Programme  |  Written and developed by Susie Hewson BA (Hons), PGCE, FRSA

As part of an ongoing commitment to menstrual health and education, I have developed the Natracare School Programme, to assist teachers and students with the subjects of Puberty, Menstruation, and Reproduction and Environmental issues for key stages 2 to 4. The programme includes Keystage Lesson plans, Teaching notes, Fact files and Task sheets aimed at 9 to 17 year olds in an easy to use format.

The Monthly Matrix is an interactive device to help students understand the complex changes that happen to girls during the menstrual cycle. For any day of the month, you will be able to move within the Menstrual Matrix to find out what is happening inside your body, prepare yourself for what your mood is likely to be, which hormones are causing this to happen, and find tips on how to deal with these effects. You can also follow the development of the follicles (eggs) and the endometrium throughout the monthly cycle.

Bits & Boobs - a girl’s book on growing-up, has been specifically designed by Natracare and Hazel Johnson, from Derby PCTF, for special needs children. However, it is also suitable for younger girls of about 9/10 years of age.

Natracare is making this information available to schools absolutely free. All we ask of you is to send us your feedback with any comments or suggestions for improvement of the Natracare Schools Programme.
