In 2011 Natracare was proud to support the Home Comforts Project in Kyrgyzstan organised by Women in Europe for a Common Future (WECF).
This project’s aim is ‘to reduce poverty via sustainable development, specifically through improved access to basic resources such as energy and safe sanitation, as well as providing training for income generation, and mobilizing the community to solve local problems’. This involved raising awareness and building capacity of 9 local communities by arranging stakeholder meetings (one in each village), and village seminars about UDD toilets, solar collectors, energy efficient stoves and micro credit information.
A gender and healthy environment training programme ran in 9 local communities which included training of villagers (60% women) as healthy environment facilitators.
The final report is available for reading here.
